ST. LOUIS BLUES by W. C. Handy – 1914 – Arranged by Clyde
Grabski – 2005 - Bb Clarinet, Bb Tenor Sax, Bb Trumpet, Trombone, Bass, Drums, Piano - W. C. Handy (1873-1958) was known
as “The Father of the Blues”. His most famous hit “St. Louis Blues” was published in 1914. Some of
his other standards were Yellow Dog Blues (1914), Beale Street Blues (1916), and Hesitatin’ Blues (1921). This
is a dixieland style arrangement which includes a solo chorus with both written solos and optional ad lib solos.

PUT YOUR ARMS AROUND ME HONEY – Albert Von Tilzer – Arr.
Clyde Grabski 2006 - Bb Clarinet, Bb Tenor Sax, Bb Trumpet, Trombone, Guitar, Bass, Drums, Piano, Score - Albert Von Tilzer
(1878-1956) wrote many successful songs including and “I’ll Be With You In Apple Blossom Time” (1920) and
“Take Me Out To The Ball Game” (1908). “Put Your Arms Around Me Honey” (1910) reached #1 on the recording
charts when introduced by Arthur Collins & Byron Harlan. This chart is uptempo and cheerful.

- This arrangement of the old standard
begins in ¾ but after four measures it changes to 4/4 and alternates between a jazz swing style and a latin/rock style. Full
of energy, it is appropriate for band competitions or community concerts.
